I’ve often found myself on the creator’s side of beautiful slide decks - crafted to be crisp and effective in changing people’s minds. In hindsight, if I had paused long enough to be honest with myself, I might have noticed that only the slides looked alive.
Hello, friend. I’m Min. I’ve recently decided to take a creative sabbatical after fifteen years in technology and consulting. In this time, I am leaning fully into my explorer and learner modes - travelling to soak up all the beauty in the world, writing to uncover connections dwelling in my mind’s eye and deepening my coaching practice.
Why I Chose to Step Away
There wasn’t a single dramatic moment that broke this camel’s back, rather a slow, unnoticeable unraveling of who I thought I needed to be to be seen as successful. It is initially hard to sharpen one’s soft edges everyday, and after fifteen years of doing it, I’d become extremely good at it, so good that it didn’t even sting when I did it anymore.
There came a point for me where I grew tired of running on a creative empty, and my list of “Things I’d Like to Do When I Have the Time” beckoned like a forlorn friend, so I stepped away from the career I carefully built.
Since then, I’ve made road trips to ancestral lands, laughed with new friends as the undeniable power of the Iguaçu Falls fully drenched us, sat in poetry circles on the Isle of Iona with strangers who felt like kin, and am about to walk part of the Camino de Santiago with one of my dearest friends. I’m letting my experiences change me in whatever way they may choose to.
What This Space Is
Writing has been a loyal partner to my sensemaking, so A Quiet Turning is my reckoning journal and way of interacting with you lovely humans wherever in the world you may be at the moment. I’ll be sharing:
